Practice Safety When Using Outdoor Fire Pits
Many families love to enjoy their outdoor space even in colder temperatures by purchasing an outdoor fire pit, and understandably so. The warmth of the fire and the ambiance it creates is a great addition to any night spent outside.
If you have an outdoor fireplace installed, you will have to meet certain safety codes which should ensure that your fireplace is safe with proper use. However, when using an outdoor fire pit, be sure to take these safety precautions:
Be sure to keep your fire pit at least 10 feet away from your home and anything else that may be combustible.
It’s best not to place a fire pit on a wooden deck or patio.
Don’t place your fire pit under limbs that can ignite from flying sparks.
Be sure to make certain the fire is completely out at the end of the night. Coals buried in the ashes can ignite if left unattended.
A fire pit is a great way to spend more time outdoors on chilly afternoons or evenings, just be sure to take the necessary steps to make sure the evening is nothing but enjoyable.
