Create Your Own Patio with DIY Patio Pavers, Part I
Creating a patio to suit your needs is a very fulfilling experience. A patio can be created in the back yard with the help of DIY instruction guides and a little creativity.
Patio pavers come in different shapes and sizes. So the first step is to decide on the material and the shape of the pavers you would like to use. These pavers come in interlocking designs which make them easy to install. Most tiles also have ribs on the edges and these ribs allow the sand to sift between the bricks once the installation is over.
Once the area for creating the patio is decided, the area should be cleared of weeds and leveled. Weed killers can be used to clear the area of weeds. While leveling, make sure that there is a slight slope so that water never stays stagnant in that area. Then the soil should be packed firmly in that place.
Once the preliminary work is done, the area for the patio should be demarcated by using plastic edgings. Then coarse sand should be filled inside these edges. Next, level the sand. Just leave enough space for the pavers to be laid. Now it is time to lay the pavers.
